about

I'm Brenda Castaneda — a multidisciplinary designer, creative director, and product developer with over a decade of experience in fashion and brand design. My work lives at the intersection of storytelling, visual identity, and technical execution. I studied Fashion Design and Fine Art, which means my approach blends both structure and sensibility. I was trained to build garments with precision — and to think critically about form, meaning, and cultural impact. That dual background shaped how I work: part technical, part conceptual, always intentional. My career began in apparel, where I designed performance wear, licensed streetwear, and cut-and-sew collections for brands like Darc Sport and The Hundreds. Over time, I expanded into creative direction, print development, and brand strategy. Today, I lead projects that range from seasonal apparel lines to full-scale identity systems and packaging campaigns. I believe good design is never just visual. It’s systemic. It’s strategic. And it should always reflect what a brand actually stands for. My process is rooted in research, clarity, and care. Whether I’m building a tech pack or developing a brand moodboard, I approach each step with the same goal: to make something that holds up — in function, in feeling, and in meaning.

AI Tennis Vest: From Flat Sketch to Campaign

AI Tennis Vest: From Flat Sketch to Campaign

This project explores how AI can expand a designer’s workflow from technical sketch to full campaign. It began with a clean Illustrator sketch of a cropped lilac tennis vest featuring mesh panels and a heart-shaped zipper pull. Using AI-powered 3D rendering, the sketch was translated into photorealistic garment visuals, complete with fabric textures and front/back views. From there, I styled the piece into surreal, high-fashion tennis looks — pairing it with pleated skirts, headscarves, oversized rackets, and editorial lighting. The final campaign reframes tennis wear as both sport and spectacle, showing how AI can accelerate prototyping, styling, and storytelling. This project demonstrates my ability to: Design & sketch garments with technical accuracy Use AI to prototype 3D garment renders and textures Direct visual campaigns with cohesive narrative and aesthetics Bridge fashion design and emerging technologies

Darc sport

Darc sport

At Darc Sport, I lead women’s performancewear design from strategy to execution, overseeing seasonal drops of 100+ SKUs. I translate conceptual themes into wearable silhouettes, build comprehensive tech packs and prints, and work cross-functionally to ensure production readiness. Each collection balances athletic utility with elevated streetwear aesthetics, tailored for our growing women’s community.

Pleasures

Pleasures

I collaborated with PLEASURES on apparel collections, lending my design and development expertise to bring each brand’s vision to life. I focused on translating skate and punk influences into cut-and-sew pieces with graphic edge. I also helped execute bold visual statements through technical support and artwork development, staying true to their irreverent and subversive style.

The Hundreds

The Hundreds

Role: Product Developer & Technical Graphic Designer At The Hundreds, I supported the brand’s legacy of streetwear storytelling by bridging concept and execution across apparel and graphic programs. My work included translating bold visual ideas into production-ready assets — from vector-heavy graphic tees to technical placement for cut-and-sew garments. I developed spec-ready tech packs, managed revisions with vendors, and ensured the accuracy of screen print sizing, embroidery placement, and trim application. I also collaborated cross-functionally with design and marketing to maintain brand integrity across seasonal drops. This project highlights select graphics and development work that reflect The Hundreds’ core DNA: West Coast streetwear rooted in cultural commentary, humor, and DIY ethos.

3D Garments

3D Garments

A study in tension and flow—these 3D garments fuse sculptural form with emotional charge. From the kinetic swirl of “Flujo Dinámico” to the quiet precision of engineered pleats and cutaways, each look balances boldness with restraint. Materials are rendered with intention: slick tech textiles meet matte knits, and structured tailoring collides with streetwise silhouettes. These pieces don’t just wear—they perform. Simulated but deeply tactile, they represent a design language that moves between digital craft and embodied futurism.

Dulzón: Tamarindo Collection

Dulzón: Tamarindo Collection

Dulzón blends heritage and futurism into a luxury-streetwear framework. The Tamarindo Collection reimagines Mexican nostalgia through the lens of romantic streetwear. Inspired by the textures and flavors of dulces típicos, the line fuses devotional softness with street resilience — a sartorial homage to memory, heritage, and contemporary identity. The project began with research into cultural artifacts: traditional dulces, embroidery, and devotional textiles. These influences were translated into a palette of Chamoy Red, Mango Orange, Tamarindo Brown, Metallic Copper, and Pristine White, evoking both the warmth of home and the vibrancy of street culture. Key pieces include the Chamoy Luxury Bomber — an oversized two-tone jacket in crimson red and mango orange with metallic copper hardware — and the Dulce Wrap Dress, a tamarindo brown silk charmeuse wrap dress embroidered with floral motifs. The palette and textiles draw from Chamoy Red, Mango Orange, Tamarindo Brown, and Metallic Copper, echoing both the richness of Mexican craftsmanship and contemporary design innovation. This project demonstrates the balance of research, storytelling, and prototyping — translating cultural memory into modern apparel innovation. The Tamarindo Collection demonstrates how research-driven design can translate cultural memory into wearable innovation. It merges R&D, storytelling, and execution into a cohesive system that balances emotional resonance with commercial potential.

AstroHearts

AstroHearts

A surreal, satirical zodiac character series where astrology gets fuzzy, weird, and wonderfully emotional. Each sign is reimagined as a plush-hearted creature — complete with bugged-out eyes, cosmic moods, and chaotic charm. From a lollipop-licking Taurus to a double-headed Gemini, this series plays with tropes, exaggerates personality traits, and turns the zodiac into a cast of collectible misfits. Developed as both a character design exploration and a product concept, the project includes apparel mockups, illustrated cards, posters, and textile prints. The tone? Astro camp meets emotional surrealism — part horoscope, part hallucination.

AstroMijo

AstroMijo

AstroMijo is an original children’s IP developed as an emotionally resonant storytelling universe, fusing sci-fi folklorico with product design and wearable narrative. Created to explore memory, emotion, and ancestral connection through a young space traveler named Mijo, the brand spans illustrated books, apparel, packaging, and digital interaction. Objective: To build a multidimensional brand that bridges children’s publishing, softlines, and collectible design—while preserving cultural specificity, emotional intelligence, and IP scalability. My Role: - Designed AstroMijo’s visual identity and signature character styling (helmet, suit, mood palette) - Developed initial apparel concepts (unisex tees, hoodies, embroidered patches, soft accessories) inspired by planetary themes and childhood memory - Created a limited-run printed book with QR-linked interactive memory portal using Carrd - Led product storytelling, material strategy, and packaging concepts for future merch rollouts - Built a world around the character, with color, typography, and product design rooted in softness, nostalgia, and tech-animo (analog warmth meets futuristic motion) Impact: AstroMijo demonstrates my ability to originate and scale IP from emotional storytelling into tangible, shoppable product. The project is positioned for future capsule merch, licensing, and collaboration across publishing and softlines.
